“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.”
– Robert Frost
This has been both the painful and uplifting story of my life. By the time I entered high school I had already worked my way through four different schools and found myself severely behind when it came to academics. In my first week of classes I was given more work than I had received throughout all of eighth grade. To say I was unprepared would be an understatement. I needed to catch up. However, I am not one to only go halfway, I cannot stagnate in the middle, I need to thrive, and so, I did. I put my nose to the grindstone and did more than merely catch up, I worked my way to the top. I became my own worst critic, holding myself to higher standards than anyone else did. I became infamous among my friends for being upset with myself for getting a ninety-five. With this mentality I worked my way into a college in which I believe I can have a bright future. I will work myself to the bone if that is what it takes to reach success. Life never slowed down for me, and so I never had the luxury of taking my time. I had to fight tooth and nail to make my way to the top and make a name for myself. However, at the same time, this struggle has molded me into the person I am today, hardworking and unwilling to settle for less than my own best.
